Rescue Emergency Care (REC)

Emergency First Aid at Work

A one day (minimum 6 hours teaching time) course. The course is for statutory and workplace needs. The EFAW course is designed to introduce a systematic method of first aid for managing casualties. The course is a balance of technical learning and practical assessments.

Outdoor First Aid Course

A two day course (16 hours). The outdoor first aid course is designed to introduce a systematic way of first aid for managing casualties. Topic learning and practical’s intermixed with scenarios of real situations. 

Royal Yachting Association

WML can offer 1:1 or small groups for sailing coaching depending of the needs of the individuals/group. We also offer a variety of RYA recognized courses.

Level 1 or 2 Powerboat Handling

Provides the skills and background knowledge needed to be a competent powerboat driver. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. The Level 1 course is a practical introduction to boat safety and handling. The Level 2 course focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and the technical knowledge to complete short journeys aboard a powerboat.

Safety Boat Course

This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities. It includes rescue techniques and elements of race management and mark laying.

RYA Sailing Level 1 or 2

Build your confidence and develop your skills. The Level 1 Course is suitable for beginners looking to learn the basics of sailing. The Level 2 course is a step up and focuses on more advanced skills such as rescuing the sailor’s capsized boat.

RYA Seamanship Skills

This two-day course focuses on enabling participants to handle a variety of situations while afloat including recovering the boat in different
circumstances, recovering a man overboard, anchoring, and more. This course is aimed at those who are sailing at the RYA Level 3 standard.

Paddle UK

Whitemoor Lakes can offer 1:1 or small groups, coached to a higher level for SUP, Canoeing and Kayaking in a variety of environments, depending of the needs of the individuals/group.

Other courses we can deliver :

  • The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course aims to provide paddlers with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and to be able to deal with common problems in a sheltered water environment. The course is designed for all paddlers irrespective of their chosen craft. The objective is to introduce, explore and practice simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the paddlers with the tools to solve common paddling issues.
  • The SUP Safer course is designed for anyone new, or relatively novice to Stand Up Paddleboarding, wanting to gain knowledge and raise their awareness of their personal safety in a sheltered water environment.
  • The Introduction to White Water Safety Course is designed to support paddlers to become effective group members in a moderate, white water (Grade 2) environment. This one day course is aimed at paddlers with experience on grade 2 white water, wanting to explore the role of an effective group member and learn simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the tools to solve common paddling issues.
  • The British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Instructor is a great first step for those looking to deliver safe and enjoyable taster/starter sessions based on their group’s needs and aspirations. Participants must have completed the Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course to partake in the Paddlesport Instructor course.
  • The Paddlesport Leader is aimed at paddlers who wish to lead groups of mixed craft on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water.

  • Paddle Start Your first time on the water ‘having a go’! A fun and enjoyable practical session, introducing you to paddlesport.
  • Paddle Discover Taking you on the next steps towards becoming an independent paddler, for a fun and safe time on the water. Developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; developing your decision making and practical skills, giving you confidence on the water.
  • Paddle Explore Your Explore Award gives you ownership; allowing you to choose where you move next in the world of paddlesports.

Personal Performance Awards

The Discipline Specific Awards allow you to develop your personal paddling and decision making skills in the craft and environment of your choice. Available in every craft and environment, the awards are based on your learning, encouraging you in your personal development.
