Does watching ‘The Traitors’ Change lives?
As we say goodbye to the amazing cast of The Traitors, we also say goodbye to former diplomat Alexander Dragonetti whose praise of a certain charity inspired over 4,800 show viewers and their families to donate.
Nearing the end of season three, faithful Alexander Dragonetti voiced his plans to donate part of the prize pot from the show to The Royal Mencap Society, a charity focused on helping those with learning disabilities and their supportive carers and family members.
“My relationship with him was everything, he was just the happiest guy. People say this about people but he lit up rooms… He was just so much cooler than his brother and I loved that.” (Dragonetti. 2025)
Through his heartfelt message about his brother’s life and Mencap’s involvement with his family by offering summer camps for young people with learning disabilities, ‘The Traitors’ star Alexander Dragonetti was able to raise awareness of this truly worthy charity and in the end, his brother’s story has gone on to raise over £73,000 in support the Royal Mencap Society.

So, to answer the question ‘Does watching ‘The Traitors’ change lives’? For people like our very own Alex (confusing we know, but they do share the same name!) who joined the Whitemoor Lakes team through Mencap, it definitely can!
When Alex joined us as a part of the Mencap work placement system a few years ago we were so excited to help him reach his potential and through the mentorship of our experienced catering team and the Mencap charity, Alex has truly flourished into a wonderful, confident member of our Centre.
In 2024 the Whitemoor Lakes team were honoured to receive Mencap’s Employer of the Month award for our work in connection to Mencap. In 2025, we continue to pursue new ways to support people with learning disabilities and enable them to go out into the world feeling confident, successful, and welcomed.
So, the next time you are sitting at home flicking through different channels on the television, you never know, but you might just find yourself changing lives.
If you’d like to support this fantastic charity please consider donating, volunteering, or fundraising. Check out The Royal Mencap Society website today!
